We are pleased to announce that Laurel Beaton has accepted the role of Principal at Uplands Elementary School.
Laurel brings more than eight years of school administrative experience and a strong understanding of the Uplands community. Her leadership experience has included Vice Principal roles at Uplands Elementary School, Eastbrook Elementary School, and Brooks Composite High School, and as the division’s Learning and Innovation Coordinator. Throughout her career, she has demonstrated a strong commitment to inclusive education, instructional excellence, and supporting students and staff in meaningful ways.
She is known for her collaborative, data-informed approach to school improvement and for creating safe, caring learning environments. Laurel brings experience supporting English as an Additional Language learners, early childhood programming, Mental Health Capacity Building, and diverse learners. Her leadership is grounded in strong relationships, restorative practices, and a deep commitment to helping every student feel seen, supported, and able to grow.
Laurel holds a Master of Education with a specialization in Learning Sciences, along with a Bachelor of Education and a Bachelor of Arts. She has also completed Leadership Quality Standard training and brings a strong commitment to literacy, inclusive learning environments, and ongoing professional growth.
